Greetings from Ground Zero in Portland, Oregon.

Today and tomorrow, thousands of people (yeah) are arriving in town for the third annual World Domination Summit. We knew there was a lot of interest in WDS when we first started back in 2011, but the level of growth has been surprising even to us.

The team and I are thrilled to welcome everyone!

What Is WDS?

WDS is a gathering of amazing people from all over the world. Each year a big group of enthusiastic people descend upon Portland for a three-day series of lectures, workshops, meetups, and fun.

This year our main-stage speakers include Chase Jarvis, Gretchen Rubin, Donald Miller, Darren Rowse, Nancy Duarte, and many more. We’re expecting a huge wave of awesome attendees from more than 30 countries.

The group also participates in numerous workshops, meetups, activities, adventures, and service projects all over Portland throughout the weekend.

I founded WDS in 2011 and am honored to serve as the host, but I’m also the first to say that is has far exceeded my initial vision.

WDS is a not-for-profit event with no sponsorship, no advertising, and nothing for sale besides books. Our core values are community, adventure, and service.

WDS Attendees: Hurry Up and Get Here!

If you’re on your way here, I hope you’re traveling well.

Most of you have been receiving lots of info already, all about workshops, our opening party, and how to connect with other attendees. All you need to know at this point is: bring photo ID and show up at registration to collect your badge! Our team has been working for nearly a year to greet you.

Registration times and locations have been sent separately by email to all attendees. (If you still need help, let us know.)

Everyone Else, Hope to See You Another time!

WDS sells out at least six months in advance every year, so we haven’t had any tickets since January. After January, there was a flurry of transfers between original ticketholders who were no longer able to attend. This option is no longer available after we went to press with the manifest on May 5.

In other words, there is no longer any opportunity to attend WDS events this year without a ticket issued in your name. If you’re in town and see WDS folks, be sure and say hi! They will be… everywhere. However, every seat will indeed be taken at the main theaters, so we’re not able to accommodate any drop-in visitors.

There is one exception to the attendees-only rule… and it’s the chance to set a WORLD RECORD. What! Yes, a real world record.

Join Us At the Float!

The World Float, a separate event that is open to everyone, kicks off tomorrow morning at 9am near OMSI on the east bank of the Willamette river (across from downtown).

Have you ever wanted to set a world record? Go down in history and bring honor to your ancestors? Haven’t we all!

Join us in the Willamette river tomorrow morning. Everyone with a ticket is welcome (and we’ll keep ticket sales open until capacity is reached or 6am tomorrow—whichever comes first!).

OK, that’s a wrap … there’s much to be done around here! I’m off to stuff the final gift bags and prepare for a big start tomorrow.

Happy 4th of July to everyone in the U.S.!
