Readers: What Would You Like to Know About?

This week I’ll be traveling to Europe, though it’s been more of a challenge than usual to get there. Perhaps I’ll write a post on how not to book plane tickets, because that’s what my life has felt like as I’ve tried to plan what should be a very simple trip.

But that’s okay! I’ll get there. And here’s what I’d like to do today: I’d like to know what’s on your mind and what you’d like to read about from me.

If you have something to share, feel free to send an email (hello @ chrisguillebeau .com) or write in directly from the site.

First, Behind the Curtain (There’s not really a curtain..)

For more than 15 years, I’ve published my blog and this newsletter mostly on my own. Yes, we’re in an age in which every aspirational TikTok influencer has an intern (“let me check with my team…”) but for the most part, it’s just me.

For better or worse, this is by design. I work with contractors and partners on various projects: publishers for my books, a distributor and producer for my podcast, and so on. But 80% of the time, I’m the one who does everything around here.

Which is both good and bad! And one of the challenges is that things tend to fall through the cracks. A year or two ago I pretty much gave up on email, simply because it had become overwhelming and—well, I don’t really have a great reason other than that.

I still feel conflicted over it, but I had also fallen behind in writing books, so something had to go. (Happily, I’m back on book-writing schedule.)

While I’m on the road this week, I’m going to spend some time working on improving my systems and responding to lots of messages. If there’s something on your mind, or if you’d simply like to introduce or re-introduce yourself, feel free!

However You Got Here, I’m Glad You Made It

When I speak at events on book tour, I usually open by saying something like “However you got here, I’m glad you made it.” The same is true with my blog and newsletter.

After all, The Art of Non-Conformity is made for you! Really, truly.

You might have signed up sometime long ago after reading a book or coming to an event, or maybe you just discovered it recently.

Or you might have been reading for years, but at some point you dropped out for a while. I get it. I’ve never been great at real-time social media, and I doubt that will change anytime soon.

But I do commit to writing this newsletter every week, as well as my daily podcast, and of course the upcoming book and tour. So as I plan out my next few months of work, I’m wondering…

What Would You Like to Know About?

Feel free to let me know who you are, where you’re reading from, and what you’d like to learn about in this newsletter. As mentioned, I’m not always great with email these days, but this week I’ll do my best to reply to everything.

You can also follow me in the usual places, where I’ll be posting more soon as book mode approaches:

Coming up in August I’ll be doing a tour to at least 14 cities. Most of them are now confirmed and I’ll be able to share dates and details soon.

Thanks for being out there! The best is yet to come.
