Annual Review Coming Up! (2023 Edition)

This week I’m heading off-the-grid for the 2023 Annual Review trip.

It’s a tradition I’ve held mostly without fail every year since way back in 2006. I’ve also written about it almost every year since 2008, the first year of the blog.

The limited failures include a) 2020 (the world was closed) and b) a year when I was too depressed to look forward. Otherwise, though, it’s been one of the few things that are consistently present in my life. (Also, I’m not super depressed these days, so, yay!)

Here’s how it works.

You can do more than you think—but if you’re like most people, you also tend to over-plan your days. By working on a longer time-frame (12 months), you’ll be able to accomplish a series of big goals while also being true to your values.

In short: to live better, live more intentionally.

More than anything else, this practice has helped me become who I am now, as well as make progress on projects that are important to me.

(Therefore, I offer it to you as well! One of my favorite things over the years has been hearing from readers who’ve adopted a version of this practice for themselves.)

If you’re new, you might want to check out these posts:

Those are just a few highlights; there are 50+ additional Annual Review posts sprinkled through the AONC archives. Seek and you will find.

I’m always happy to share the outcome of my Review, or at least a version of it, with readers. I hope that this process is helpful to you in your own planning.

In fact, this year is extra special: I already know I’ll be making some BIG changes for 2024, and I’m excited to share them with you soon.

Therefore: onwards! I’ll say more next week about how it went.

Are you doing an Annual Review this year?
