How Can You Help Someone for Free? A Social Experiment

276

Dear Readers and Amazing People,

Greetings from Austin, Texas. I had a fun time yesterday with many SXSW attendees and residents of this great city. Special thanks to BookPeople for hosting, to Betty Jean for coordinating a large amount of beer and cupcakes, and to everyone who showed up.

Life is good and I’ll be going for some of Austin’s famous breakfast tacos right after publishing this post.

Let’s Have a Social Experiment

Last week I briefly mentioned an idea to think about how you can help someone. There’s no time like the present. Let’s kick this off!

A few principles:

Despite what you may have heard, there is indeed such a thing as free lunch. We get it all the time. Plenty of people have done plenty of good things for you and me, without asking for or expecting anything in return.

Lately I’ve been thinking about scaled generosity, about how helping people in one way can lead to helpfulness elsewhere.

Last year at WDS we had a lot of fun giving every attendee $100, along with the suggestion that they put the funds toward a project or person they believe in. Since then we’ve been collecting stories on what happened with the money.

Some of my favorite stories have involved scaled generosity or multiplying effects—see Lissa’s project, Natalie’s project, Sarah’s project for our friends at Charity: Water, and many more.

This Week’s Experiment

So here’s how it works. Figure out something you’d like to give away for free. Do you have a skill you’d like to offer—something you can help someone with?

Is there something of value that you no longer want, but someone else could put it to good use?

Is there something you sell that you can give away to a few people, or to everyone on a certain day?

If you sometimes charge money for this free thing, that’s OK—nothing wrong with making money! Many people in our community are self-employed. I’m gearing up for my own overdue product launch in a couple of weeks.

But this is all about helping someone for free. So for this experiment, make sure you really offer it with no strings attached.

You can share your offer by:

a) Writing a blog post that links to this one. Our system will automagically see it and add it to the trackbacks on this page.

b) Posting a comment that explains what you are offering for free. It can be anything you’d like, and if there’s a website related to your free offer, include it in the URL field (not the comments field itself).

On Monday, March 18th (one week from today) I’ll share an upcoming roundup post with a summary of many of the links, offers, and stories. Cool?

There aren’t really any other parameters. If you read AONC you’re a smart person, so I bet you can figure something out. And I bet you’re a generous person too.

And now for those breakfast tacos…

Comments here.

  1. I’m a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant and can help you find the right skin care products that are perfect for your skin. I love helping people to feel great about themselves, and sometimes when we look good on the outside it helps us to feel good inside too. Don’t worry if you don’t live near me, I can send you samples and we can meet via Skype to talk about your skin care needs and then I’ll teach you how to use the products best for you.

  2. i knit hats and give them away. mostly i give them to folks around my area that are in need (homeless vets, students in at-risk areas, etc). My website She Makes Hats chronicles this. i don’t ask anything in return for these hats, and most folks don’t even know who the hats came from!

  3. Love this! I once did a similar post.

I’m offering FREE Body Image Breakthrough Sessions on my website. This is a half hour coaching process that helps people to discover their limiting beliefs so that they have an opportunity to change them, if they so desire.

I’m also offering a free Body Image Breakthrough Kit on my website.

This really has me thinking: What else can I give away? I have a butt-ton of books that would probably be better off in a library (where people can read them whenever) than on my bookshelf (where I put them after I’ve read them or where they sit until I make time to read them).

What fun! I love giving away stuff for free. Seriously, it’s like the best high of all time.

  4. I am a certified Health Coach and Medical Student. I run a blog called Nourished Existence that offers wellness tips, fitness plans, healthy and delicious recipes, grocery lists, and overall healthy lifestyle inspiration. Everything on my blog is free to anyone who is ready to take control over their health, body, and spirit.

  5. Me & my husband run a mindful writing company, ‘Writing Our Way Home’, & I’d like to give away ten of our ’31 Days of Gratitude’ e-courses to anyone who could do with a little extra gratitude in their lives… the first ten to email me ‘gratitude’ (satya@writingourwayhome.com) will get a free course. We often give away low cost places to people on low incomes. Giving stuff away without expectation of anything in return is important! Thanks for the opportunity Chris.

  6. I’m going to help my mom set up a website for her small business.

  7. I’m a cycling coach, and I have been giving free talks hosted by the local university cycling team about training, diet, racing, etc. I also write about racing tactics on my blog! This year I am working on using my connections in the cycling world to get racers on the teams they want to join.

  9. Hi Chris. Awesome Idea. Nothing like giving back to make a difference and change your own life! I am fortunate in that I have a pretty good knack at helping people overcome limiting beliefs and fears that come in the way of their success. I will be offering free sessions to three people this week and I will giving away an awesome Osprey pack for free as well. Was planning on selling it, but this inspired me to give it away instead. So thanks Chris!

  10. Great idea, Chris. I love free stuff.

I run a business called The Personal Statement School where I help people kick ass on their law school applications.

If you’re reading this and are interested in going to LAW SCHOOL, please email me and I will give you a FREE 20-MINUTE PHONE CONSULT to answer any questions you have about applying to law school. No question is too big or too small.

  11. I’ve been playing with the idea of how to help someone from every country in the world, but without visiting every country – that’s been done ;-)
The rule I was toying with was that the person doesn’t need to live there, they simply need to be able to qualify for their national football team! My skills are photography, copywriting, marketing… …washing dishes, mowing lawns, giving people a lift etc. So if any of you need help with that or anything else then maybe you can be my first helpee. I’m off to Malaysia and Thailand in a couple of days, so that will be two countries I can tick off pretty quick! My only caveat is I want the person to send me a photo of themselves, or I can create it myself if I can hook up with you. I thought it would be lovely to have a portfolio of images showing someone from every country in the world, with a little bit about their story. So, which country is first? I’m waiting.

  12. I’ve been consulting former hospitality students pro bono off and on for many years and love the feeling of having been a valuable contributor to a new business and/or career. I’ve also helped non-Anglophones with editing and copywriting on articles or on the English pages of their websites.

I would like to offer my editing skills to 2 new travel bloggers who are not yet comfortable writing in English. I could either edit a blog/article or the home page of the websites for each of them.

Your idea is wonderful, Chris and I’m pleased to participate. Thank you.

  13. I am offering HOLOSYNC brain entrainment cd’s for FREE (I’ll only charge for postage, or send them collect). I currently have the intro level, up to Purification level 2 (The approx. value for each level is 200 and something dollars!). If this interests you, let me know!

  14. Right off the top of my head I think I’ll be giving away some baby sitting this week. Some friends with a toddler are facing the imminent death of a elderly family member. I can help them out by keeping there child some.
I’ll see if I can come up with some additional ideas.

  15. I listen really, really effectively and ask excellent questions. This helps the person I am listening to explore their issue/struggle/decision and figure out what they want to create. Mostly these days I do conflict coaching but I have worked as a counsellor in the past and still have a few counselling clients. I am happy to give away my high-quality listening :)
Today, for example, I listened to a woman for 45 minutes who is in conflict with her co-worker. She mostly talked and I asked some questions. I offered her some ideas. She cried a little. She deepened her understanding of the dynamic at play and gained insight into next steps. I think that being so immediately and tangibly helpful to others in this way gives me more satisfaction than anything else in my life!

  16. So, after hearing you speak yesterday at Book People ha ha – it’s @suburbanclair again. :P I have been building this new idea all morning, and now you have offered me the perfect springboard to make it available, and for free! It’s actually a workshop that I’ll be offering in Austin, about tapping into your own psychic resources at work. For the purposes of the giveaway I’m going to offer it in an email format so anyone can do it from anywhere. Here’s how it works: It’s an email reading – you can ask me up to 5 questions related to your business that you would like for me to look at with a “psychic eye”. There are a couple of cool Take Aways I’ll include that can be applied to everyday life. The reading will include a followup check in. :)

The whole point of what I do is showing others that we all have psychic abilities, and how to access them and use them to live a fuller and happier life. This is my true passion – that and creating connections. Now, give me a few minutes, I’ll go write the blog post. :) Can’t wait to see what everyone does with this challenge!

  17. Hi, great idea. I’m working on more free stuff but have a free e-book on how to take care of the skin and body with fifteen simple and readily available ingredients. It has lots of ideas, recipes and information on how each of the ingredients like rolled oats, olive oil, honey and clay can be used in face masks, baths, scrubs and more. It was fun to do and am working on material for some classes both paid and free. If you like a hands on approach to your skin and body care check it out!

    Next to the closets!

  18. What a great project! I’m a photographer and designer currently challenging myself to do 6 small, entrepreneurial side projects over the next six months, and in my most recent post I’m giving away a digital set of underwater photographs intended for wallpaper. The other underwater sets are a bargain at $1 (or more if you choose to give a bit extra), and half the proceeds go to sharksavers.org to help protect sharks and mantas from destructive practices like finning.

I don’t know that these will be helpful in a traditional sense (other than maybe offering some inspiration on your desktop), but I hope that people enjoy them, and that they help increase the wonder at all the fantastic creatures that inhabit our planet!

This same idea has been on my mind for some time now. I repair mechanical clocks as a sideline business. I know a widow who has a grandfather clock that needs me! She can afford to pay for the repair, but I want to do the work for free. She is the mother of a friend of mine.

I have hesitated to approach her about it because I just know she will try to compensate me in some way, and that is not what I want. All I want is to know that my friend, and his wife and children, one of whom is my goddaughter, will enjoy hearing that clock chime at grandma’s house.

I think the solution is to call her this evening.

  20. I’d like to offer up free legal services to help someone become a U.S. citizen. I’m an immigration lawyer and will handle all the paperwork and resolve any tricky issues. The lucky citizen-to-be can be based anywhere. We’ll talk via skype or the phone.

  21. Ah, the timing of this is perfection! When I woke up this morning, I was feeling like I wanted to do something. So I decided to give away five portrait sessions (I think I’m up to eight, though). Then this email landed in my inbox and I knew I was on the right track. It’s a small thing I can do, to make someone feel beautiful.

  22. I would like to offer free health/fitness advice. I am a trainer, husband, father, cancer survivor, member of the military and all around nice guy. So send me your questions and I will do my best to give you real-world, practical, yeah-I-can-do-that advice!

    Cheers!

  23. I am a painter. I paint a lot of tiny paintings. I’ll paint a free painting for you. Inspire me! With your photo. Or story. Or idea. I’ll send you a painting.

  24. I love your project. I would like to offer the book WONDER by R.J. Palacio to 5 people. “If every person in this room made it a rule that wherever you are, whenever you can, you wil try to act a little kinder than is necessary – the world really would be a better place.”
    ― R.J. Palacio, Wonder

  25. I’d like to offer up to 2 hours per person for 5 people to help you plan a trip (any kind of trip). I’m not a travel agent (so i don’t do bookings etc) or an expert of any sort – just someone who really loves travel & testing all the tools & resources I’ve come across in different scenarios.
You’ll likely save some time (up to 2 hours!) and who knows, maybe even some money if you land up finding something better than you’d otherwise use.
What’ve you got to lose? :)

  26. Have a script but are looking for a director? I’d like to offer my services to direct one film – contact one.free.film (at) gmail.com

    (Note: I’m based in Australia)

  27. Hi! I’m Rachel, I make paintings based on the landscape of malvern, England, I can offer a print of a painting for the 1st person who emails me and i can offer a greeting card to the first 10 people who email me with the subject ‘sharing art’ on enquiries@rachelablackwell.co.uk

  28. The 30×30 Project tour starts this week with free bootcamps at lululemon Corte Madera and lululemon Union St (San Francisco). Would love to have anyone and everyone join us to help spread this message of hope through movement!

Here’s the kicker: following the bootcamps will be Movement Meetups in which we’ll create a personalized action plan for you to take with you, to start bringing hope to your community IMMEDIATELY. Hope to see you there!

  29. Since the New Year, I’ve been volunteering with New York Cares, and have been able to volunteer on average for one project per week. Tonight’s project will take place in Chelsea where I’ll be helping people with vision impairment/loss make jewelry and key chains. This not only ties in with my own background and skills with jewelry making, but it also feeds into my desire to help others and leave my corner of the world a slightly better place. (Oh, and by the way, I took a large bag of clothes from my closet to the Goodwill today.):-)

  30. I will gladly give a year’s subscription to JustJEWIt! iPad Magazine — the first and only Jewish magazine made exclusively for iTunes, in the Newsstand.

  31. I can offer one of these three services:
    1. Setting up a WordPress website on your hosting,
    2. Fixing any issues you have with WordPress,
    3. Helping you optimize on-site SEO.

  32. I am going to give away FOREX trading lessons for free to help traders help themselves and to keep them from losing their hard earned dough! I have a person who I have donated 3 hours to already. I am also going to give a way free English lessons ( I a a former teacher and now full time trade…I still believe in pushing the old literacy cart! )

  33. I’d be happy to provide a month’s free coaching support to anyone living overseas, or returning from such an experience.

Having lived and worked in a number of different countries and cultures I understand the challenges faced both by those settling in to a new situation overseas and those returning home after an extended period abroad.

(Available to the first 3 people to contact me through my website).

    Great idea and timing!

I’m launching a FREE eBook next Wednesday, March 20th in conjunction with the “International Day of Happiness.”

The eBook answers the question “Does God Really Want You To Be Happy?”

Anyone is welcome to come and experience the answer to this important question my coach asked me last year. The eBook contains what I discovered through my research of happiness.

Thank you for providing this forum to help others,

    Barak

  36. Hiiii!

If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area and interested in art, a beloved piece of my sculpture is offered up.

You may have a large space in a commercial office building or hotel lobby that could use a piece of 3D work. I say this because the piece is fairly large.

You can see images of my work on my site…just click my name to the left of this message. Feel free to inquire by leaving me a message, and we can discuss how you can own an original piece of fine art.

    Thanks Chris!

I’m on a mission to help the world…ok, more specifically to help business owners get out of overwhelm. I wrote a free eBook and eCourse called “One Simple Step for Finding Focus and Four Tips for Keeping It.” It’s free on my website and I hope you’ll feel free to grab your own copy to find your focus.

  38. I”m a freelance bookkeeper specializing in QuickBooks. Do you need QB set up for your business? I’ll help 10 people get it set up for free! (I usually charge $180 for this) I can do this remotely very easily for any small US company! Awesome idea!

  39. I offer inspiration and motivation to dreamers. I offer hope, passion and a swift kick in the ass. My dream is to help people change their lives with my words. My blog, Hundred Goals, is my means of accomplishing that goal.

If you’re looking for a little tough love to get motivated, check out my blog. It might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

  40. Hi, I can offer someone free dinner if they are ever in Charleston, SC. I feel like that is a pretty good deal considering we have some of the best restaurants in the world.

    Best wishes!

    Jordy

  41. Love this….another great Guillebeau idea! DIY Brides go for it! Giving away 25 Traditional Rose Packages. You can use the code: socialexperiment

Bridesmade Blooms is a video/PDF package that downloads to your computer. Detailed instructions & checklist for doing all your wedding flowers. Over 2 1/2 hours of video. You’ll feel super-confident after you watched these…ready to save money & take on the floral-design world!

Chris–Thanks for moving us all toward giving; it’s put a huge smile on my face today & I hope on everyone else’s. Keep up the great work!

  42. I own a greeting card business where we people can send a real, highly personalized card, even with their own pictures, through the U.S. Postal Service from their computer. I will set up gift accounts where you can send two cards for free, including postage, no strings attached.

Just go to my website and click on “Send a Card”. After you personalize your card and click send, my company will print the card and envelope and deliver it to the Post Office for you–for free! If you need help, contact me.

Think of someone who really needs to hear from you and send a heartfelt message of gratitude, maybe include some pictures that would be special to them! It’s a way you can freely give encouragement and appreciation!

  43. Amazing idea. I can offer two things for free

    1. a 45 minute coaching session. I typically coach women in high pressure jobs who have found themselves feeling “there must be more to life than this” and help them to build an exceptional life they love. But I am willing to offer the service to a wider audience for this group :)

    2. I’m also an experienced experiential marketeer so any events or experiences you need help planning I’ll be happy to give you some advice/tips/ideas. I’ve planned a few weddings but I’m more involved in corporate style events but I can always take a look :)

  44. I can offer any podcasters out there some free intro, outro or promo voice work. I’ve done this for other people before, and they generally liked the results. Sometimes it’s nice to have another voice on your show, and this is a great way to get a standardized intro or outro.

A couple limitations: nothing political (any politics), nothing vulgar or hateful, and you would get a raw voice file. Also, let’s keep it to two or three recordings.

This helps me keep my chops up, and maybe it’s something you would like to have as well. I have a pretty good setup (broadcast quality gear in an apartment studio), so you can have good results.

I do have a day job, so I can only do so many at a time, but let’s give this a shot. Let’s have some fun with it.

  45. I’m a productivity and life balance coach and I would like to offer for free three coaching sessions (worth $250 each), to the first three people who contact me.

    How can I help?
    - If you can use support in designing a more meaningful life for you: get clarity on what is the most meaningful path you need to follow in your life and design a plan to make it come true;
    - If you need to address life balance challenges: do you feel that all you do is work? are you witnessing the quality of your relationships go down? would you like to dedicate more time and energy to your passions?
    - If you face personal effectiveness/time management challenges: procrastination, lack of focus, not having enough time for things that matter.
    - If you need to reach a stretch goal: define it, develop a strategy, an effective plan and get it done.

I would be happy to provide for free the following package (worth $250):
    - Clarity Questionnaire
    - Skype Consult (50 min)
    - Detailed Action Plan
    - List Of Resources For Further Study

I would be happy to help.

  46. As a freelance blogger and writer, I’m offering a month’s worth of free blog posts (1 per week at 500 words) to any business that feels they need to ramp up their online social media. Alternatively, I can offer a different writing/social media service of equal value/time they need to get done (such as updating or creating their social media accounts, writing an article, case study, white paper, etc.).

All they have to do is check out my writer’s site and email me with the subject line “Your offer of free blogging/writing via Chris. G.” Thanks!

In life, all that really counts is helping others. Many can’t give money. But, many can give of themselves, do a good deed, share their knowledge in the hopes of soothing someone in distress.

This past week I found that I am dyslexic, having difficulty integrating words and thoughts and how its had a pervasive affect on my life. Well, I realized a substantial segment of our society has also fallen through the cracks. So, I’ve decided to write an article ( I hope I can finish it) to share with others that their failures were from a language disorder and not from stupidity. In fact many dyslexics are extremely bright and creative. I hope my sharing this knowledge will help those to accept themselves and to find peace in a trouble world.

  51. Hi Chris and everybody, I’d like to offer for free an e-book I wrote about college admissions.

It’s called Game On, College: The Ultimate Short Guide to Clever College Admissions. It’s written for high school students and is a guide for navigating the college application process. Download it for free, or forward it to a high schooler you know, at my website.

  52. Another great experiment of yours, Chris! Love it. I’m giving away coaching on easy website creation on my website. I’m dedicated to growing the community online entrepreneurs who believe in ethical businesses and revenue models.

  53. Great idea, Chris.
I’d like to offer freebies in two categories:
My website sells k-6 art lesson plans with national standards included. I’d like to offer to the first 10 first year general education classroom teachers that contact me *free k-6 art lesson plans* to use with your k-6 students. This offering is great for the classroom teacher who has to teach (or wants to teach) their own art lessons in the classroom. If the person reading this fits this description–great–but if you know a first year teacher (no matter what the age) that could use these art lesson plans for their students–please pass this info along to them. Simply go to my website (click name to the left of this message) and use the contact form there. Put in the subject line: Free K-6 Art Lesson Plans . Category #2: I’d like to offer free to the first 5 USA Wounded Warrior servicemen or women (or their husbands or wives)–that contact me– one 8×10″ art print from my other website here: http://www.asjartworks.com . If you have served in the last 5-10 years, simply go there and use the contact form and put in the subject line: “Wounded Warrior Free Art Print” . Tell me your story in the body of the contact form.

  54. For most of the last two decades I have done PC repairs for a living. Over the last two years I have taken in old machines from people who were upgrading, reconditioned them, and then given them away to people in need or to charity organizations. Sixteen computers so far!

  55. I’d love to help with some editing. I’ll take a shot at a resume, cover letter, online dating profile, blog post, or other web copy.

I don’t edit for a living, but I’m a natural wordsmith who loves the challenge of arranging words to more artfully and effectively get the point across.

(Great idea, Chris! I look forward to seeing where it goes.)

  57. I love this idea. Thanks Chris!

I’m a coach and business brainstormer for creative souls and holistic entrepreneurs. I take quite a spiritual and intuitive approach to help those I work with unblock fears, tap into what they desire and achieve their goals.
I’m happy to offer a couple of email sessions.
For those looking at coaching, I will offer a couple of complimentary month long packages (generally one email per week) which include support, plus clarity busting questions and activities to help you move forward.

If you are interested in taking up this offer and getting a little more support to create your dreams, email me at Kate (at) kateholley.com.au and let’s get started!

  58. I live in a very poor city North of Boston. This Saturday I’m opening a new yoga studio that allows anyone to take classes, regardless of income. While I do have suggested fees, anyone can come on a donation basis. Those who can’t afford any donation can practice for free. I’m hoping that giving away classes will encourage others to give more and help support and grow our community.

  59. Thanks for this opportunity, Chris! I host and produce Radio Enso, a free weekly podcast that I hope inspires people to live, work, and move about the world consciously — in a chosen direction, sometimes different from the norm — and gives them the tools to do so.

To date, I’ve aired 75 new episodes and have featured quite a few online and personal development leaders (like Chris and many of the speakers and workshop leaders from WDS), who have shared their stories with the world. It’s sort of a “life class” for both myself and my listeners.

  60. I was hired to direct a short doc about a local health clinic that serves the underserved. What I discovered was a story about generosity. They’ve asked me to invoice them, but I’m going to not charge the clinic for making the film.

    Jesse Lemic

    Hi Chris,
I am offering a smoking cessation program based on my book QUITTING IN TIME: HOW TO STOP SMOKING ON YOUR OWN to an individual or company needing my service.
I attended your presentation at Cruzio in Santa Cruz, CA and was inspired to re-energize my website and marketing. My new website is under construction and is not currently online.
I have done smoking cessation classes for Delancey Street Foundation in San Francisco and have just been retained by Janus of Santa Cruz to help their residents in recovery quit smoking. I am in contact with the Santa Cruz Veterans Center and the Pajaro Valley School District because they have expressed interest in my program. Since I attended your lecture lots of new doors are opening for me.
You can check out my book at Amazon.
Thanks so much for your inspiration.
    Sincerely,
    Jesse Lemic

  62. I’ll be singing and playing guitar at a nursing home on Good Friday. I do this 3-4 times a year and it is very rewarding. There are people that I don’t even know if they realize I’m there. But when I sing an old hymn, they respond and some even sing. I have a new appreciation for health care workers.

  63. How were the tacos?
    Once again, great post.

After travelling for 18 months and finding it very hard to find free volunteering opportunities. We got back home and launched our website. It’s free to join as we only rely on donations to keep it running.

We have some amazing opportunities, from working with the Amazon conservation association to helping Burmese refugees in Thailand.

So come and join for free and help your way around the world.

Plus if you are in Burma in the next two weeks, dinner is on us!

    Paul

Wether its opening the door for someone or smiling at someone as they walk by. Its important because you can make someones day. Its better to be happy than angry! I try to make a good difference in my community.

  70. Hi Chris,

I’d like to give people the gift of relaxation. If the readers want to go to The PATH² Download page they can get a two free audio tracks of guided relaxation.

These days with 5 Hour Energy, Starbucks on every corner and 24/7/365/Everywhere internet nobody has a problems getting over stimulated. But many of us have forgotten the art of relaxation.

I help chill people out better (and cheaper) than Xanex. These audio tracks are my way of Helping Someone For Free.

Well, I’ve wanted to do this for some time and this seems the perfect opportunity.

My gift : I’ve always gotten comments that people feel listened to and understood when they talk with me.

So, my offer: Anyone who would like to have someone listen to them talk about anything under the sun can skype me. Maybe if you are grieving for a loss, thinking about a business idea that you are unsure of, a care-giver who needs care themselves, etc ……..

But you must make an appointment first! I’m a working 9am-to-8pm gal! My email: josephine.law@hotmail.com.

  72. I will give two hours of my time to help coach unhappy, unsatisfied attorneys on the babysteps and structure of how to leave the law behind and create a new, better life for themselves. Yes, believe it or not, you need not remain a burnt out attorney! You can leave law behind.

    Thanks
    Casey

I’m a high school student and I wish to teach physics or Biology to any student who asks me to, for free. :)

  74. I’m a high school student and I wish to teach physics or Biology to any student who asks me to, for free. :)

  75. I have been voluntarily coordinating logistics for cooking classes. I created the classes for a new immigrant/refugee woman that I met in a transitional shelter to teach. I met her when she was basically homeless with a new baby, and because on all my visits with her, she kept feeding me amazing Ethiopian food, I was inspired to help her begin to earn an income. Check it out on FB — we have her third class coming up in a few weeks.

  76. Thanks Chris! I actually participated in Natalie Sissan’s $100 change program and within the 100 days finished building my website and eCookbook titled ‘The Art of Roaming Cooking’. It is a recipe book filled with 100 fuss free, freaking easy recipes designed for travelers. I am offering it for free for about another week as an introductory offer (to know that people are interested in it and enjoying the recipes brings me joy).

I must say I have had an interesting experience lately trying to offer it for free. I put it up on an Australian bargain website and had over 1500 downloads (and other Australian freebie sites picked it up over a couple of days). However, I reckon I wasted 2 days trying to offer it on similar bargain forum websites in America without any luck of getting it posted once. Interesting…

  77. I would like to offer 5 free courses “108 steps” (online guide for single women in the age of 30-40 years) for free. The release date will be the first april.

  78. Hi there, I am an artist, designer and coach and I offer a free 9 minute gratitude meditation on my website. On Monday 18th, everyone can download it for free to keep forever. Thanks for all you do in the world Chris. Louise x

  79. I had made this my own personal secret mission in February- paying it forward and giving back whenever I was inspired by someone’s story or mission. I ended up doing two photo shoots for people who weren’t expecting it, but graciously accepted, and countless random acts of kindness including paying for orders behind me in line at coffee shops and drive thrus. The post from one of the photo shoots is scheduled to go live on my blog tomorrow.

    1. I can offer the first five people who email me at ryanmcrae@mac.com a postcard from Afghanistan (where I work for the next 36 days) and if you ask me a marketing question (and you describe your business) I’ll give you a couple of ideas as best I can.

    2. And here’s my book of afghanistan haikus I did for charity:water to raise money (@$5100). https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rbv3jll8rdbw5mv/FqY8lGRWIl

  83. I offered one lucky reader a free lunch. Was a lot of fun : )

  84. All my life, i’ve been an avid reader. I read books of all varieties from classic literature to vampire novels to insightful non-fiction (i.e., The Art of Non-Conformity). Over the years, I’ve collected a lot of books, and since i’ve recently begun a process of simplification of my life, I’ve thought of just donating them all to Goodwill. But instead of just one big anonymous donation, I decided to be more thoughtful and actually have some fun with it. So now, when I visit my favorite coffee shop, I leave a book. When I go to the dentist, I leave a book in the lobby. Anywhere it marks sense, I leave a book. In each book I write a note, asking the person who finds it to enjoy reading it, and then pass it on in the same fashion. That way, I’m spreading the joy of reading and giving at the same time:))

  85. Great ideas! Very inspiring. Thanks for this.

  86. This is a great idea and I am excited to participate! I am an ESL teacher for international professionals and I am giving away one free English lesson to one person in my community.

    Thanks for the idea!

  87. Fun opportunity! Thank you, Chris, I would LOVE to play along.

I am a visual artist, creativity coach and educator who believes in creating everyday (in some way). My blog focusses on creative inspiration, process and support. I facilitate 5 day e-courses designed to jump start creativity so that others may begin incorporating a creative “habit” into their lives (either AGAIN or for the first time). I offer a safe and nurturing place for people to play along and explore their creative side. If this sounds like something you are desiring, wanting, needing, I will give away 10 classes to the first 10 people who contact me with the reply “I want to create everyday”.

I also offer creativity coaching and would love to offer my 21 day package to the first person who contacts me with the reply, “I can commit to 21 days.”

I am also in the midst of my March Creative Commitment. DAY 10′s tiny painting, a cardinal, was posted on my facebook page. If this piece speaks to you, please contact me with the reply, “I am ready to recognize my self importance.”

SO inspired by all those that have already left comments. Thank you, ALL!

  88. Hi. I live and teach in Bangkok, Thailand; and I’ve been here for over two years.

If you’re in town and would like me to show you some of my favorite restaurants or street food that may not be in the guidebook, I’d love the dinner company sometime.

I can also coach you in my very limited, basic Thai phrases.

Find me on twitter: jenny44indy and tell me you saw this post on AONC.

One other word of caution: research Songkran (Thai New Year, happens in April) so you’re not blindsided. A 3 day/week long country wide water fight is not something you want to take on unprepared.

My offer stands until the end of June.

  89. What a great idea Chris!

I’ve just finished writing an ebook called “The Art of Making Big Dreams Happen”. I’ve put in it the top psychology based strategies that have helped me follow my dreams and create a life I love.

I will give this ebook for free to anyone who emails me with their big dream in the subject title.

    This is great!! :)

  90. Awesome!

I usually reserve my free 20min mini coaching sessions for people who are wanting to work with me, but I’ll give away 10 free 20min sessions to the first 10 people who contact me!

You can click the link to send me an email telling me you found me on AONC and you’d like to book your free session! First 10 people can book a spot with me.

    xx becca

  91. I own a video marketing/production company here in Portland, Ore. I’ll do a free video for someone in this area, especially if you create handcrafted items (clothing, jewelry, food, skateboards, whatever) or are a non-profit.

  92. This is so awesome, Chris! What a great concept :)

I’m a travel blogger/photographer currently in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I can offer anyone visiting this great city an afternoon to go around and shoot some photos.

Alternatively, I can also offer to write a post with some nice photos to a small business involved in the tourism trade that’s relevant to these topics: street art, cycling, rock climbing, outdoor activities, food.

    Thanks for this opportunity!

  93. I don’t know if this counts as well, but I’ve started a facebook page where I share helpful articles about acting and showbusiness I found, read and learned something from as well as inspirational quotes. The thought behind this started when I began blogging about my journey of becoming an actress abroad. Many people who share this dream with me (often people from countries where the showbusiness industry is either small or non-existent like myself) often want to move to markets like London, Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver or Toronto and have no idea where to even begin. I was once in this situation and it took me a few years and many trials and errors to even get begin to understand the industry. The hardest part was to actually find any resources that could help me understand it all and learn what I could do right now, so that’s why I’m sharing all the helpful articles, because I’ve created quite a list of reliable resources I follow for advice and I believe could help others too. The idea also is to create a community of people who are going through the same thing, so we can be there for each other. The page is still new, but helping people is something I want to do.

  94. I have been an entrepreneur since I was a teenager, almost 30 years, and have been giving free phone and email advice to every single author, publisher, small business owner, and job-changer that has come my way (I’m a book publisher and now also a publishing consultant)…hundreds each year…for the last 15 years. Only in the last few years have I started charging folks for any followup advice. My specialty is “micro-gigs”–only charging folks for the few minutes it takes to answer their questions, send them off with some great new ideas, etc.

I love this idea and am excited to share the experience! :)

  98. I love giving because it makes my heart feel open and expanded. Thanks Chris for this idea.

Learn more by going to my site and enter the blog section and read the post and contact me if you would like a free positive boost.

My heart would love giving that to you.

  100. I design websites and last year I felt like I ran into a wall. I love working with brand new businesses and people just starting their entrepreneurial journey but in order to pay the bills I was getting sucked into larger and larger projects with the type of big, faceless businesses that I hate working with.

So this year, after a lot of brainstorming, I came up with what I think is a great solution. I’m now offering super affordable website design and branding packages to new entrepreneurs – a sort of limited time, limited number template bundles.

Whenever I jump into a new project, I always make a point of giving the first “product” away. It’s a great way to fill up the karma bucket early and to work out the kinks in the process.

Right now I’m offering a giveaway for my first design bundle which is for Photographers looking to start their own business.

  101. I’m a Professional Hypnotist. I’ve always offered to help any pregnant woman stop smoking for free. Once in a while I teach Mindfulness courses for free as well.

  102. I’m not long on stuff. But time? I have 86,400 seconds a day, and although busy, there’s some to spare. As a Relationship Therapist/Coach, here’s what I do:

    I listen deeply
    I ask questions
    I listen to your answer
I listen to your answer so deeply that I can perhaps discern before you can the tendrils of solutions to your problems
I work with you to co-create a plan forward
    And to create some accountability
    And follow-up.

    So, here’s my OFFER

I am giving away two FREE two-hour counseling sessions (we’ll meet twice, each time for one hour) to two NEW people ( sorry existing clients, but you can offer this to a friend ) who contact me at gemma@gemmautting.com with FREE ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT in the subject line.

In the body of the email, I’d like you to tell me 3 things:

    1. Who is the counseling for (you or someone you know)
2.How do you hope it will benefit you (or someone you know)
3.How will this benefit to you (or someone you know) also benefit others?

  103. Great way to Help Someone for Free is by visiting Share a Wish on Facebook. Anyone can easily help bring a smile to a terminally ill child by helping make a wish come true. Easy ways of giving like one child wanted pictures of dogs and another one loves trains and would love pictures from anywhere around the world of trains. Such an easy way to give and bring a smile to a child’s face. New Non-Profit thats really doing amazing stuff.

I’ve been working in legal publishing and nonprofit publishing for five years, and in the past few months, I’ve helped a few friends create ebooks from larger books they’ve written, and plan the structure of books they’re going to write.

I’m offering my advice (over the phone would probably be best) with how to get started writing a book or an ebook. Do you have a lot of expertise in a field that you wish people understood better? Or are you passionate about a niche topic and there just isn’t literature out there about it? I can help you take your expertise and build the backbone of a book or ebook that will be easy for you to approach in the writing process, and will be straightforward and logical for your readers later.

  105. I have a plant my father gave me that produces little baby plants and seeds (he got it from a friend of his in Brazil). It’s a gorgeous plant and I’d be happy to send the first 5 people who contact me 3 tiny seeds for them to grow their own plants. This plant is so easy to take care of and if the 3 grow well then you can always offer the 2 others to friends:-) just leave a comment in the blog!

  106. Over the years, being a solopreneur has provided a comfortable life for me and my family. I have truly loved the freedom, independence and pride that the business has given me.

I learned everything the hard way when it came to running the day-to-day operations of the business. The Solopreneur Hotline is designed to help make the learning process easier for others, as well as offer a sounding board for their ideas.

We created the Solopreneur Hotline in order to help others become successful solopreneurs. There is no charge for our help — ever. It’s our way of supporting solo and small businesses.

  107. I love this idea and already practice it in my own way. I think the whole idea of, ‘there are no free lunches’, comes from the old paradigm of greed and fear-based business practices. Yes, you want to be profitable but yes, giving freebies and support both feels good and stimulates an atmosphere of creative potential that bears real fruit, and prosperity!

  113. Hello All!

I do a lot of public speaking and would like to offer anyone in the Philly or D.C. area who works with youth for me to come in to your classrooms or events and speak about my travel experiences. I am a first generation student from a single parent household and look to inspire students to know that they can overcome their obstacles!

  114. First of all let me say that you were a huge inspiration to us when we started our business last fall after the company we worked for for 16 years went out of business. We used many of your ideas to get started without spending a fortune, and I still refer to my(very used) copy of “The $100 Start-Up” consistently.

Now to the giving part….we are working with our local hospice provider to do free diagnostic work on home-based medical equipment that they use for pallative care and that gets donated to their thrift store. We also offered the same services to Project Hope which helps provide needs for the homeless. Most recently we are getting involved with a new non-profit in the area called Breena’s Bridge which builds home access ramps for people who don’t have other funding for them. We are trying to find funding sources for them with our industry contacts. Love, love, love making this a part of our business! Also love your idea Chris.

If you’re ever on the southern coast, we are located right in North Bend, Oregon and we’d love to sit down and chat for awhile. Have a killer time in Norway next month, wish we could be there!

  115. I teach ESL for free for 6 months twice a week to women in third world countries. I am currently working with a young woman in Mexico.

    No strings…just pure giving.

Improving the employ-ability and her ability financially to take care of herself…it is truly empowering.

  116. Hello Chris and everyone. I was a participant in Natalie’s $100 change program that you mention above which was a direct result from your $100 giveaway. During the 100 days of the change program, I completed an eCookbook titled ‘The Art of Roaming Cooking’ containing recipes designed for travelers.

If you are a traveler and wondering what to cook all the time on the road (i.e. with minimum ingredients, cooking equipment, budget and minimum left over ingredients), you can enjoy ‘lunch on me’ so to speak, and download the ebook for free (it will be free for probably another week). Enjoy!

  118. Hi Chris

Over the past 3 years I have worked as a volunteer with the unemployed and young people who are about to leave school and either go to university or find work. During this time I found that a significant proportion of them lacked certain life skills, such as confidence, decision making or making things happen.

This year I launched an e-learning website that is entirely free and available to anyone who wants to learn how to develop these life skills so that they can take back control and live the life they want to lead.

Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this social experiment!

  119. I’d like to offer 4 people (one for every yr I’ve been freelancing) a one page website. It’s an ideal way to get your business idea a first, authentic step onto the web.

You sort the domain & hosting, I will build a one page website containing a couple of images, your logo if you have one, what you do and how to contact you. If you have a Google Analytics code I will include that too. I’ll create it on my testing area and once it’s complete will send you all the files to upload to your hosting company.

The hardest part will be choosing – so Chris if you know anyone you think would really appreciate this do let me know. Otherwise it will probably be names in a hat :-)

  120. Hi sweet friends!

I would love to offer a free coaching session. My coaching system is all about supporting you to live HOT, HAPPY AND HEALTHY. In this consultation we’ll talk about your dreams, your desires, your health and wellness, your goals and how we can make them a reality for you. Basically, it’s an opportunity for you to share your story with me and also to get to know me better. I would love to talk to you!

  121. I am a professional musician (trombonist), so I can offer the following:

    1. A free one hour lesson on trombone (or a lesson on how to practice effectively on ANY instrument) in person or on Skype.

  122. Well if anyone is coming to Taipei before May, I’ll be happy to take you out to eat at the most popular restaurant here!

Other than that I’m offering to give the first five people who email me access to my Get Busy Living in 30 course. It’s delivered by email. One email a day for 30 days. Designed teach you the principles I used to help me get unstuck in life. Each email has a lesson and some have action steps to take.

  123. Fantastic idea Chris.

I’m a software developer, and would love to offer someone a free analysis of their application / website / idea, to help better refine it and prepare a statement of work that actually fits what freelancers are looking for

I’m also considering putting together a free guide on how to find and work with software freelancers, – would love to know what kind of questions people have about software development and working with technical freelancers in general, and what kind of hurdles you’ve faced in dealing with freelance contractors

  124. I offer a cultural awareness workshop for staff at an organization working with immigrants, asylum seekers and/or refugees. It is an interactive session built around the concept of culture with the aim of increasing respect for cultural diversity and improving cross-cultural communications. I have been running this workshop for volunteers at a refugee center in Southwest London with excellent feedback. It is thought-provoking and fun! 126. I love everything about the World Domination Summit, and I eagerly got up early to buy a ticket this year. But…. now my sister has chosen *the same weekend* to get married. Yes, I even asked her if she could do it the following weekend, but apparently the reception hotel was booked then.

I see other people are reselling their tickets and I just don’t feel right about that. If I could be there, I would! Since I can’t, the $500 ticket is someone else’s for the asking. I figure it will be a gift to someone here, and a gift to my sister as well.

  127. For any new businesses or freelancers with websites, I’m offering my services to do some freelance writing for their site and/or blog. So if you’re too busy to write your own content or need a little extra help – I’ll be more than happy to do that for you!

That makes it possible for me to treat patients who can not afford to pay for treatment by bartering. ALSO, I would like to give away a interactive 60 to 90 minute presentation about HIV and AIDS in Southern Africa. For the last two years I have lived and worked in Southern Africa and spent time volunteering at an HIV and AIDS hospice. I have given this presentation / discussion about 12 times to college students and have received lots of positive feedback. I usually cover: what is HIV, how does it spread, history, apartheid, cultural impacts, social impacts, and treatment. I also sprinkle in personal stories from my work in Africa.

If you have a group of people who are interested in learning about HIV and AIDS, I would love to present. I am very passionate about this topic and enjoy any opportunity to spread awareness.

I live near Portland, Oregon and can speak at locations nearby. If you are not from Portland I would still offer my talk if you are able to pay for my transportation costs.

  134. Love this!

I’ll help the first three people who ask me to update their resumes :) I’m a professional writer so hopefully my suggestions will make a difference in your job search — or if you’re going unconventional, give you new ideas on how to present yourself! Contact me on Twitter @whirlingd

  135. Great idea, Chris! You always have the best ideas when it comes to involving people around an awesome cause. Which is why I’m participating. I can help with this: I’ll write free press releases and sit down with 3 businesses to talk PR.

Thanks so much! Can’t wait to see all the great things that’ll come off this!

  136. People are always invited to submit a cool idea or goal that they’d like to accomplish or jumpstart and, if chosen, I donate money from my percussion gigs to make it happen!

  137. This is sooo cool! I offer product giveaways of my handmade body & bath products on a regular basis. I also give away gently used products that I’ve purchased that I no longer like, need, or use. Product types vary. I post my giveaways on my facebook fan page….

  138. As an avid AONC reader, I’d love the opportunity to participate in your social experiment. I am a coach and mentor; and have extensive experience in the fire service. I will provide free coaching to the first six people who contact me. I work with people who are looking to improve their leadership skills and build high performance teams. Contact me at cynthia.lifegear@gmail.com

  139. I’m making a Kiva donation

  140. Who’s travelling to Sydney in the next few months? Well…food is super expensive so I’m offering for yourself (and partner) to eat with my us (my wife and I) in our inner-city suburb or Balmain. Contact me via my blog if you want a free lunch (or dinner).

  141. I offer free self defense training and martial arts classes online. Get instant access to over 70 how to videos absolutely free. Visit my website and start your training today! Thanks for allowing us to post here Chris!

  142. I’d love to make a mixtape for someone. I’d also love to write a poem for someone.

  143. I help business owners triumph over chaos and experience personal freedom. If you complete your chaos assessment here, I can send you your personalized action plan for free.

  144. I’m donating to the Lotus Children’s Center in Mongolia. My friend Nathan is volunteering there and raising money for the organization. Not exactly free, but it IS a great cause!

  145. Such a great post! I love you blog. @Brit I have written a poem for someone :) but I also give to a nonprofits that help people who have seizures and come up with the right diet and medicine. I do it because I unfortunately suffered from seizures and now I am free of them!

  146. I am giving away a painting lesson at some of my classes until the end of June. There will be random drawings. You can read about my work on my web site and my blog. I will refer to this project in a blog tomorrow. Thank you.

  147. Chris – I love your challenges! It’s so much fun to get creative about gifting.

I’m giving away 10 free custom designed website buttons – 1 to each of the first 10 people who respond to my blog post requesting one. You can read the post over here.

Additionally, for each button I do, I’m going to give away $10 (total of $100) to Smile Train which is one of my favorite charities as my son was born with a cleft palate and lip.

And I’m also asking the recipients to gift someone if they can afford to do so. The power of 10 x 10!

  148. On my website I give away my Creative Dream Starter Kit, which I used to sell. It helps people figure out what their dreams are and how to start making them real.

  149. Love this!
Chris, my name is Susan McMullen and I co-host a radio show, The Better You Network. We interview entrepreneurs and those following their passions with the focus being on the journey. Our goal is to share these stories and in doing so provide inspiration, motivation, support and resources to others in the same space. We believe that, though it is amazingly rewarding, it can be lonely or scary to “jump off that cliff”. We have dozens of interviews archived on our site- all free. Also, we love to interview and tell other’s stories, and after the interview, you can can download your interview to use on your own website or to promote your business. If you are an entrepreneur and would like to be a guest, please email me.

  150. Great idea! I try to give something away for free every day. I am a notary public. Sometimes I don’t charge and ask the person to do something nice in return. If I can’t give my random notart service for free I feed a stray cat or donate my time to the local shelter
Another free thing I do is say hello and smile. A smile or kind word to a stranger might make tjat person’s day!
After Sandy hit here , I was really happy to motivate others to give things for free
I took my organization skills and promoted a chip in for a friend who lost her home. She wound up with $2000 for FREE.
In turn, she has been collecting prom dresses to give away for free to graduating HS seniors who lost their homes to flooding.
    Love your site!!!

  151. I will offer up artwork. Illustrations for your book, art for your walls, words for your ears and prints for your house. Really, I want to share my stuff more. I’ve never had a website beyond my Flickr portfolio linked above and…if someone could help me with that, it’d be a nice trade. And…I want to learn how to make animations and dabble in film. So, if anyone had those things to offer, I’d be very interested. But regardless: art share! I want a bigger world of shared love and creativity. I want to find my tribe. I’d like to know you if you like my work. So here you go!

  152. I will be giving away, by random drawing weekly, a free art class to one of my students….until May 1.
What a great idea. Thank you.

I will make a small wallhanging for 5 people. This can be a memorial, reminder, or “happy place” piece of art. I would require a picture (email) and description of what this would mean to you. Also, any information about the event. Thoughts. Feelings. I have been making these as gifts to help others move forward in their lives.

Example: Pic of 3 generations of “her boys” for my mother-in-law. She is caring for her husband with altzheimers.

Pic of 6 friends on camping/hiking trip, made for them to remember the great times.

Pic of sister, who died earlier this year for the daughter, and one for the sister who donated her bone marrow.

  154. im offering a full day tattooo to someone totally free ….
    lollies and smiles included …..
send me a msg if interested ….
maybe we can create an amazing piece of skinart
    and have a laugh along the way :}

  155. Always full of dazzlingly generous ideas Chris G… Loved this one!!! Thanks for all you do every dang day to inspire GOODNESS.

    Nov 20th, 2012 – After getting (almost uncomfortably) #amped and #inspired at WDS in July… :)

I put your $100 toward my charity: water campaign. And then:

I released a free, un-gated 75-pg multimedia manifesto (graphic e-book + accompanying expanded audio on itunes) on how to rock a happier, more connected, and “integrated” life. It includes a free workbook along with it.

I helped launch it with an inspired conversation with my heroine, musician/artist/activist Ani DiFranco.

Our amazing pal Jonathan Fields had these kind words to say about the manifesto:

“KC is a torch-bearer for a new generation of thought-leaders who are looking to play a bigger game in all areas of business and life. He speaks from a place of boots-on-the-ground experimentation and validation. His ideas are equally effective for individuals as they are in the “living laboratory” of one of the fastest growing tech-firms in the U.S.”

    - Jonathan Fields, the “Uncertainty” book & GoodLifeProject.com

I’m fortunate to maintain my dream day-gig, so anything we give… thanks! -kc

  156. I am a travel photographer and I make all the photos on my website available for free download under Creative Common License for personal use on your website/blog with credit to myself and link back to my site.

  157. I love this!

It’s wonderful to read these comments, then connect with (ask) for what I’d like to receive. Beautiful!

I have 2 different 21-day self-study ecourses that I offer: one is the Gift of Presence: Musings at Sunset, the other is the Gift of Presence to Gratitude. Here is the link to get a feel for the material http://facetsofjoy.com/ecourses/

If you are interested in either, I will gift a session to you, simply email me at joy@facetsofjoy.com and mention this article. How fun!

  158. Have an app idea but don’t know how to get started?

I’m offering free 1 hr coaching sessions with 5 people who want to make their app idea a reality. I can help you assess the App Store to find profitable ideas and provide advice on getting your app built for the least amount of money. And you don’t have to share the full details of your idea if you don’t want to.

If you’re interested then you’ll find more information here.

  159. Since June 2012, I have volunteered at Muir Ranch. Muir Ranch is an urban garden on the campus of John Muir High School in Pasadena, CA. I work with students at Muir Ranch. The students learn how to grow their own food, where food comes from, and how to eat healthy. The students sell subscriptions of produce to members of the community and have begun to generate profits. Because of the profits, they have had to learn accounting, marketing, and sales. Additionally, because Muir Ranch is an entrepreneur project, the students will qualify for college credit. Here is a piece the local CBS news affiliate did on Muir Ranch -
    http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/video/7561040-students-in-pasadena-grow-and-sell-fresh-produce/

If you are, or will be, in the Pasadena, CA area and want to get dirty in an urban garden, come by for a visit. I’ll teach you some of what I’ve learned about growing a garden.

I may be reached at mmorales2032@yahoo.com.

  160. I will give away a free 5×7″ art print from my website to the first 5 people that contact me. Simply use the contact form on my site and request it.

  161. Great idea!

  162. I will be offering a six-week career search class beginning in April. Our local paper just ran a story this week that unemployment jumped in January, so the timing is great. If all goes well, perhaps I will begin putting this course online to expand my reach.

  163. Chris,

I love this idea. I’m in.

I’ll offer a free hour (or a bit more) of relational fundraising advice/coaching to 3 non-profit fundraisers.

Thanks for all your great work!

    kdk

  164. Hi Chris (and readers), just wanted to update you — I thought my comment wasn’t approved, so I took down the free download. However, just find my e-mail on the contact me page, and I’ll be glad to send you a copy. (Book about college admissions)

  165. 2013-MAR-13, 12:17 a.m. // Chicago, I-90 West. It has been a long day with 5+ hour delay at SEA. (Obviously, my good travel karma is running low.) It’s wet with temperatures hovering around freezing. I am driving to my hotel for what will be about four hours of rest before I have to get up for a meeting. I am consistently frustrated with tolls on I-90: tollpass or cash only, and some exits are unattended/coins only — a retro 1970s nightmare for visitors. It’s late; I’m tired and irritable. I pay my toll, getting change. Before I pull away, I turn to the attendant and give him exact change saying “for the car behind me.” He looks puzzled. I explain again, I’m pre-paying the toll for the car behind me. I drive off. Satisfied with hopefully helping a stranger’s late night drive…maybe home, maybe to work, maybe to visit a friend…a little better.

  166. Chris I love your idea. I am a professional business coach who has over 40 years of experience starting and operating successful businesses. I will help any business owner or manager develop key messages which should be the foundation for any marketing effort, and provide practical advice on how to use them. This usually takes me 1-3 hours with someone in person or on the phone. I will offer this service free of charge for the first 10 people who call. You can contact me by phone at 206-935-4211.

  167. Another great idea, Chris. In Balance, aka Fran Keogh, is very pleased to offer two hours of health coaching. This can be via Skype or telephone. In person classes are offered for someone in the greater Cincinnati area. I am a certified yoga teacher, laughter yoga leader, workshop facilitator, health coach. My workshops/classes running now are called Feminine Wisdom and are all about reconnecting to ourselves, with the foundation in yoga and meditation, but peeling away the layers off the mat! See my website for more information. Please note this is not limited to the female gender!

  168. I’m a freelance editor and blogger focusing on book-length fiction and nonfiction projects. I’ve actually contacted you (Chris) before asking if you had any ideas about giving away a free lunch–I wouldn’t have the freelance business I have today if it weren’t for people letting me edit for them for free, and I’d love to be able to pay it forward.

So, in that vein, I’d love to hand out two free critiques to readers who have book-length projects that could use some professional editorial feedback.

I’ll read the book and put together a document including some feedback on the manuscript’s strengths and some suggestions about shoring up weaknesses. If the book is fiction, I’ll address plot, conflict, audience, theme, characterization, etc. If the book is non-fiction, I’ll address effective organization, engagement, message, etc. I’ve got experience in a variety of genres, including travel memoirs, so I’d be happy to read whatever comes my way.

I can help someone get a job.

I am a Inside Recruiter/Hiring Manager and have hired hundreds of employees in various organizations. Since I am on the inside, I love sharing the inside scoop on what to have on your resume to catch my attention, how to best answer tricky interview questions, and how to creatively get your foot in the door if no one is calling you. All tactics are styled around
what’s working in 2013 and I absolutely love helping people get a job they want!

I will help anyone but have been searching for returning U.S. solider’s to support.

I am also willing to help as many people as needed on a group phone call or a in person workshop in greater Los Angeles.

  170. I’m Vincent Nguyen, a college student that’s working for two internships entirely for free, doing some freelance work that occasionally I often discount my own rates or just offer my services for free (social media, creative writing.) I also run a personal development blog that’s of course also available free and the only payment I intend to receive from it is through engagement of my own audience.

I actually wrote an article pretty recently on simple things we can do each day to spread happiness. Fits this perfectly!

  174. What a great idea! I’m late to the party but I’ve been reading along, and now I just got my post up–so excited! I’m giving away two free Premium packages of my new writing course. It’s for anyone who feels that strengthening their writing skills will make a difference in achieving their remarkable dreams.

  177. I make lampwork beads and will give some away to a jewelry maker. My camera recently broke and I don’t have much up at my Etsy site. You can send me a message there and let me know what colors.

  178. I’m also late for the party. I crochet and love crocheting.

I’ll send a free 100% cotton washcloth (10 x 10 or 12 x 12 inches) to the first 5 people that shoot me an email.

I love bartering. So after the first 5 spots are gone, I’ll offer a trade :)

    Stephany

@Amber- I would love to go to WDS. I couldn’t afford the tickets and the transportation since I’m in NYC but this would be a great opportunity. I’ve been reading up on the testimonials from last year and looking at the website for the presenters and it would be amazing if I could go!

Thanks for offering up your tickets, that was incredible nice of you!

    best,
    Stephany

  182. OMG, so much to say! First –

AMBER – I would <3 that ticket! I so want to attend WDS, I am working on making awesome change, but I'm in a building phase and don't have sufficient funds for a ticket of my own. If it helps in the decision – I am building a business that uses stories to connect people. A key part is a community program designed to get people to connect and talk whose biases may have kept them apart otherwise. Currently, I'm in the early stages of a pilot that I hope can then be used as a template in scenarios around the world.

    Second,
CHRIS – so much of what I'm doing is WIP. I'd offer people in on the ground floor but need to prove templates a bit first. So, I'll fall back on some standby's –
I have a loaf of homemade bread (tell me in general what kind you like and I'll surprise w the exact kind) plus 3 spice jars of herbal tea – lemon balm (good for headaches), sage (energy), and basil (nausea and more). Goes to first "bidder".

And I'm making a note to repeat in the summer when the WIP is a little further along.
    - Aprille/ Storychick/@eileen53

  183. @Amber

I’ve been looking everywhere for a ticket to the WDS. It would be amazing if I could participate, and possibly be able to go because of someone else’s generosity. If I am not selected for the ticket, then I’d appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a ticket that is being resold!

There is no better feeling then doing something unexpected for another person. On my 25th birthday this year it was handing out Starbucks cards to strangers, and on Valentine’s Day it was giving red roses to girls and women that had to work that day.

  184. Re: Amber’s post on WDS, if you haven’t already given away the ticket, I would like to be considered.

And in the spirit of the post, I will offer 30 minutes of brand and marketing consultation, either by phone or by Skype to 3 of you who message me and refer to this post. I have helped entrepreneurs who are trying to grow their business, solo artists define their brand, and launched hundreds of products across the world. I’m happy to help you with yours!

  185. I would like to receive the free template from Rodney the Cash Creation. Thank you

  186. Chris I’m writing to Amber for the WDS ticket:

Amber – I would love the opportunity to receive your free WDS ticket. I’m a Jamila a female entrepreneur based in Philadelphia. I have been living in South Africa for the past two years and just relocated back to the USA. I’m super excited about growing my dream Soul Purpose Company which provides business and professional development training for socially conscious entrepreneurs. I’m working to offer virtual courses so that I can stay connected with the community that I was serving in Africa. I believe that attending WDS will help me build relationships and partnerships with like minded people looking to change the world. In exchange for the ticket I would love to offer free admission to your choice of one of the courses we will offer this year or next. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely – Jamila

  187. Amber,

It’s so amazing that your offering up your ticket to someone wanting to go. If it’s still available, I’m highly interested. Although it’s free, I’d like to also send you a gift in return but it will be a surprise.
This has been a tough year on funds for me. I just got my permanent residence and am finally able to work and I also am learning a lot about the online world so I can build myself a side-business in the near-future. I’d love the chance to go meet remarkable people at WDS but as of now, I can’t afford it. I’m still going to try either way but this would be a great help!

Thanks so much for the inspiration and the opportunity!

    Hi Chris!

What a super idea:) I have a few of ideas of ways I can give to people:

1.I would like to offer free tutoring for a child with dyslexia. I live in Bozeman, MT and have over 10yrs experience and love to help children who are right brained learners experience JOY in learning.

    2. I would be happy to mentor a person who is going through a cancer situation. I have been down that road and help whoever asks for advise or for someone to listen

    3. I love to draw and paint and could give away a small piece if someone sends a photo my way.

Thank you for the idea to inspire us all to connect!
    Living my dream…Kelly

  191. Hi Rodney, would love to take a look at your money/ideas tool.

  193. Hi Chris!

This is a great idea! Thanks for letting us know many people still want to give something for free.

    - Amber -
It is so nice of you to offer your ticket. Truly in the WDS spirit.

I would very much love to go to the WDS! When I heard about this event, it was too late to buy a ticket, everything was sold out. I wanted so bad to hear the talks since I’m looking to be an agent of change too. I want to ad magic to people’s life with my travel writing, photographs and videos.

So well, thanks for your offer! Only dreaming about maybe going makes my day. And congrats to your sister! Wish her and her husband-to-be and you the very best.
    Eve

  194. Hi Amber. Thats a pretty wild story. Sorry you cant make it. I hope you can consider me for the WDS Ticket.

I am a traveling musician and I’ve devoted the last 2 years of my life to playing piano and inspiring people to do something extraordinary with their lives. http://PianoAcrossAmerica.com

I’m currently in El Salvador playing piano on the streets in Santa Tecla and visiting an orphanage to play for the children there.

It would be a treat to go to the WDS to learn skills to take this project to another level. Thanks!

  195. I hope it’s not too late to participate! I am offering a free pant or dress/skirt hemming to someone who is looking for work and needs to look their best for an interview. You must live in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex so we get the length correct. Peace!

  196. Eric Widman, I know of someone who could really use the services you are offering. He’s an Italian violinist with a long-term fiancee in Washington State. He would love to move here and work as a professional violinist. Possible?

  197. @Amber –

Hi Amber, you are amazing. Thank you for the opportunity. In exchange, I’d like to offer you free accommodation in my Brooklyn apt for 7 days any time. Alternatively, I’m away for 2 weeks in the summer if you want to have my room all to yourself though I’d prefer to meet you. Whatever works better for you.

Also, I can recap all the meetings I attend and share those notes with you.

Again, thanks and I hope your sister has a beautiful wedding.

    Best,
    Antonia
    apredovan@yahoo.com

  198. @Nina,

No problem with having *other* paid offers somewhere on a website – that’s fine. But there’s a distinction between something that is truly free (whether altruistic or not; that’s another discussion entirely) and things that are free for the purposes of selling something else. That’s called lead generation instead of helping someone, and it’s not what I hoped for from this experiment.

Fortunately, plenty of people posted genuinely helpful offers, many of which I was glad to highlight and share.

  199. Do you want or need to change how you eat? Toward Gluten Free or Non-GMO and/or Whole Foods?

Are you in the Seattle area?

I can help you figure out how to make that transition in 3 weeks time via email and a mentoring grocery store trip, complete with a list of recipes, blogs and brands of grocery items.

Okay, I can help the first person who emails me at holli.margell at gmail dot com – subject line: Food Mentor

    — Thanks Chris for inspiring the helpful spirit!

    Hey Amber,

I saw your comment about giving away your ticket to WDS. My mind would be completely blown if you gave it to me and I got to attend. Tell your sister congratulations, and I hope it’s a beautiful day, and that they have an incredible life together.

    Thanks for the opportunity,

    -Chris Scott (chris.keith07@gmail.com)

  201. Erick Widman, my email is designer [at] kimtinuviel.com. I can put you in touch with the English-speaking fiancee.

  202. Do you have questions about homeschooling? Do you want to give it a try but just don’t know how to get started? I would be happy to offer 5 people, one 20 minute phone call to answer your questions about homeschooling. I homeschooled my two sons, now ages 19 and 21.

Both sons, have gone on to be admitted to all of the colleges/Universities where they applied. One son is majoring in Public Speaking and runs a successful surfing website and while the other is an intern for a governmental agency and is majoring on Political Science. Both will graduate from college debt free.

    2. An original abstract painting created for you with blessings (if you have a specific intention or wish, let me know)
    3. A workplace feng shui consultation (even if all you’ve got is a cubicle, I can show you how to do some easy adjustments to reduce stress, get you noticed by the boss, neutralize a negative or offensive colleague, or get you the heck outta there!)

Also, for everyone, I offer an e-course on principles of spiritual entrepreneurship, which is free to anyone and everyone. There is a version that can be used by anyone on any spiritual path, and one specifically for Christians. The content and principles are the same in both courses, but the wording and scripture quotes are slightly different. So let me know which one you’d like.

Please put “AONC Free Stuff” or something like it in the subject line of your email; I get a ton of marketing emails every day which I mostly ignore, and I don’t want to miss your request!

I am sorry I forgot to add email. Maxwellhawaii@aol.com

  206. I have written two books about keeping your pet healthy–My Fat Dog and My Fat Cat, 10 Simple Steps to Help Your Pet Lose Weight.

I offer one copy each of My Fat Dog and My Fat Cat. Email me at martha AT myfatdogbook DOT com if you are interested.

If you don’t need or want a book, but just want moral support, feel free to email me, too.

  207. Just because I think Chris is so awesome…

I’ll help the first person who contacts me set up some facebook ads. I’ll walk you through targeting your best customer, and pushing the correct facebook ad buttons to set up a rockin’ campaign to sell your products/services.

    There are just 2 conditions:

    1. You need to already have a pretty good idea of who you want to target (who’s your best type of customer?), and
    2. You have to have at least a little bit of money to fund the ads on facebook. Depending on your niche, you may even be able to start with $5-10.

Please contact me through my website.

  208. Rodney- I’m in desperate need of some mentoring to help bring in clients. I have everything set up for my own creative life coaching business, website, flier, email template, email lists, handouts, ect and now all I need it to connect with people in need of my services but I am out of ideas on how to do this.
Thanks for considering me : )

  209. Great discussion – one of your best posts yet. And I especially liked getting little glimpses of your readers and some of their ventures (and their generous offerings are inspiring – I just offered to help a friend redesign her kitchen for free). Such variety! I’m interested in Amber’s offer of a free ticket for WDS. I didn’t sign up to go because my schedule and finances were a bit unpredictable at the time. In exchange for a free ticket I’ll donate the $50 exchange fee that I would have paid (and match it!) to a charitable organization of Amber’s choosing. Yay Amber – what a nice gesture.

  210. I will share my nutrition-tracking spreadsheet to help people track their nutrition-intake. Use it to track how many calories, proteins, carbs and fat you consume. It will also try to estimate your daily energy-requirement (so you know how much you can eat to maintain your bodyweight, or loose/gain).

I am no nutritionist so I do not take any responsibilty in your use of it. I have learnt about nutrition through my participation in competitive sports, and this spreadsheet has helped me reach match-weight.

You can find the spreadsheet through the attached link, just make a copy of it and you are able to use it yourself.

  211. Hi Amber,

Sorry you won’t be able to attend this upcoming WDS, especially because you were looking forward to it so much.

That said, I am inspired by the generosity of your offer to give away your ticket. It is a great gift to your sister and her partner — both because of what you are sacrificing to be there for her and because you are sharing happiness with someone else on their special day.

Are you looking for a special wedding gift? What are they into? It seems that the best way to honor your gift would be to honor your sister’s marriage, and I’d be happy to help if I may.

    All the best,
    Erik

  212. Amber,

I think your offer is very amazing! I would like to obtain a ticket for my wife to go to WDS. I went their myself and as you know, it is very difficult to convey the experience through words. She is a creative who would greatly benefit from the experience. Thanks for making this experience come true for someone!

  213. Saw in the newsletter that Amber is giving away a ticket to the World Domination Summit. I would love to go! Thank you for your generous offer! That’s awesome! <3 :]

  214. Amber, by the way my email is: doconnor at g mail! I appreciate your challenge of reading all the interesting stories!

  215. If you are unemployed and want to start selling on Amazon, send us an email with your story and get a completely free copy of Profit Bandit, a mobile app for Android and iPhone. Sending your story is not required, but I’d love to get to know more about everyone I hear from.

Profit Bandit will let you scan barcodes on any item and will show you exactly how much profit you can expect from selling the item on Amazon. You’d be amazed at the stuff you can find in the clearance aisles at Target or at Goodwill.

Email me, paul.cole@sellerengine.com. I’d love to hear from you!

  216. I love giving things away!!
For the past two years I have been sending out free Love Beads all around the world. I was just asking for a small donation to cover the postage. I had to close the request form to those that could not afford the postage as I was inundated with requests. I will open the request form when I get caught up. Please check out the website. If you send me an email, mentioning this blog and your mailing address, I will mail you a strand of love beads as pictured on the website.
    Peace, Love and Beads!

  217. I’m a singer-songwriter. I’ll write and record a song about any topic for free. In the past I’ve written songs about the city of Phoenix, Arizona, the importance of brushing teeth, having a friend who lives in a box, and more.

Just let me know what you want it to be about, the general tone, maybe even a genre or artist you like. Afterwards I can send you a link or file.

  218. @ Tony:

I’d love to take you up on that hour music lesson on Skype. How could I get a hold of you?
I think this idea is great! I am currently working on improving my SEO skills and tactics. I don’t have much to offer now, but if this come around again I should be ready to jump on board. Thanks all!

  219. Hi, Chris! Okay, these are free from me:

    1) a marketing makeover for a non-profit or farm-related business. 2) website content review and re-write for any small business

    3) two free one-hour phone coaching sessions for anyone wanting to start a Hospitality-related business on a small budget

  220. What a great idea! Just saw this, since I subscribed last week.Sorry for the late post.

If you are the parent/guardian of a college student who is considering majoring in psychology, or already majoring in psychology, but has no idea what he/she wants to do with the major – I will offer a free 20 minute phone consultation.

I first-authored the resource book “Insider’s Guide to the Psychology Major” and often travel to give talks to undergraduates on this topic and hold workshops on the topic.

    Cheers and “good-on-you” all!

  221. @Amber

Great generosity to share your WDS ticket. I’d love to be the recipient, and here is what I propose to keep the sharing flowing:

1 – FOR YOU & THIS COMMUNITY to share: Notes on the event. Answers to anyone who cannot attend. Email or twitter introductions to people I meet and commenters here that I think should connect.

2 – FOR YOU & YOUR SISTER to share: Two gift baskets from our indie, 2-person shop, George Bowers Grocery, to share amongst yourselves and friends…

I’m sure whoever gets the ticket will derive great benefit and will be able to think of additional ways to share its value. Thanks to you and Chris for reminding us we all have something to share!

    cheers,
    @KatieMcCaskey

  222. LOVE this, Chris. I’m offering 3 x 3 hour packages of virtual administrative assistance to people with a heart-centered business or blog.

  223. Hi Chris – in April I am launching my digital version of Smart Women Love Money – it’s applicable to men and women. It’s a 6 week online experience based in a classroom with video, audio and pdf homework that helps people get conscious of their family legacy, current money story, question their limiting beliefs/fears and manifest like a mofo.
I will donate and give away three copies of this program valued at $300+. It will not be ready until the first or second week of April.

  225. I’m a good writer and very intuitive. One of my strengths is in matching people up – in business and in their personal life. Something I did for myself and have done for friends is to write their personal ad. I would like to offer the first person who responds a phone session discussing what you are looking for in a personal relationship, and I will write some snappy copy for you.
I feel sorry for folks who are at a loss for words when trying to compose a unique ad for themselves and resort to cliches like “I’m looking for someone honest, sincere, and ready to be in a relationship; I like walks on the beach; equally comfortable in a tux or in jeans; blah blah blah” We are each unique individuals and deserve to attract someone who will appreciate our special-ness.
Let me help you do this! I have a track record. I met my husband this way many years ago and have helped friends do the same. This is not what I do for a living – it’s just something I’m good at and would like to offer someone.

  226. Amber – you’ve had awesome requests for this. I asked to consider attending right before registration opened, but didn’t feel I really had the money and since am developing my piece of changing the world am still figuring out options. But I have the time and can figure out the rest of the expenses if you think I should be there. Thanks.

  227. It is such a rare treat to do something nice for a stranger, so in this spirit, I would love to help some couples with any wedding troubles. I am a wedding planner/day-of coordinator (not just a girl who likes weddings – even though that is true) so I am happy to help with any questions you may have. Need a cool idea? Overwhelmed by the planning process? Want a few tips on how to save money on the big day or a schedule to make it run better? I will do 5 free 1 hour phone consultations for couples (any kind of couples – go marriage equality!) who need some help. If you live in the New York City area, we can meet for an in person gab session instead. Email me at kari@thehandmadeevent.com

  228. This is brilliant. I have experience writing vision and mission statements for non-profits and small businesses as well as successful funding proposals. I’d be happy to help 5 people refine or write the vision and/or mission statements for their orgs or businesses. The former is usually between 5-10 words, but can be longer or shorter. The latter is usually from 20-50 words. It’s important to make every word count.

In addition, I’d love to send one basket produced by the wonderful weavers from my non-profit organisation to anyone anywhere. If you click the link you’ll see the work and the lovely baskets and products. Email me and explain why you’d like a basket and I’ll ask our staff to choose the most compelling (or giggle-inducing) response.

Great karma Chris. Thanks for making this happen.

  229. Oops. Email for above is gaylepescud at gmail . com thanks!

  230. Hey guys, here is what i have to offer for free:

    Have fun!!

  231. I’ve been playing catch-up with this whole community since I learned of everything a few months ago while starting design of my website and starting pursuit of turning my part-time “side-hustle” into a full-time endeavor ( I’m a magician).

I’m digging this free, pay-it-forward challenge and love all the wonderful offers made by all the posters here.

In the spirit of this challenge I will offer my copy of Seth Godin’s latest book “The Icarus Deception” that I just finished reading, and will ship to the first person who responds at my email address. (sevenofhearts@live.ca).

To Amber, whose generous WDS offer is heartwarming, I make an offer in return for your ticket. I will travel at my expense to your hometown and perform a full-evening of magic for you, your family and friends, and whoever else you want to squeeze into your abode for a special evening.

In addition, I will wear some clothing depicting your generosity when I attend WDS so that any and all I come in contact with will also by proxy become familiar with you.(I’m thinking a kind of human advertisement of sorts for you).

    Sincerely,
    Dave

  232. I am a business coach, blogger, writer traveling around the world for three years making mini documentaries of community projects.

I am in the US and have a good internet connection for the next 2 weeks. My business coaching is usually $159 for a single session but I will give away 1 Skype session FREE to 4 new people before 2nd April.

I help small business people get started and have a passion for blogging. I love speaking to people who are taking their first steps and want practical steps to getting tangible results. I LOVE people who are turning a passion into an income.

If you want one of these sessions send me an email, I will choose 4 people and we can make a time to speak :) serena@star-coaching.net

  233. As part of my day job, I mentor graduate students and postdocs on writing at a large research University. From this experience, I’ve gotten good at writing journal articles for science/education journals and even better at giving really good, in-depth feedback that makes journal articles better.

    So, if you are:
    - struggling to write a manuscript for a journal
    - you’re not getting good feedback from your co-authors, and
    - your manuscript is *less than 30 pages long* (sorry, I can’t take on thesis)
I can provide one-time feedback for one person.

My feedback will be conceptual where possible, but at the very least I’ll be able to provide structural/organizational/grammar feedback, words of encouragement, and some tips on how to more efficiently approach the writing process.

Send me an email to this silly address emilybgood@hotmail.com if you this sounds useful to you.

  234. Giving away 4 copies of the book Margin- 2 left to be claimed… As a part of my Whispered Wednesdays project!

I will help 5 people age 50 and older to find the best deal on life insurance. I am a CPA and have nothing to do with selling life ins. I just noticed that a lot of advertisments that say “if you are between ages 50 and 85″ are really not the best deal for this age group (of which I am a member). email me: satomlin57@gmail.com and include how I may contact you.

  239. Great idea Chris

Hi There, what a cool thread. I make CAJON’s for fun. They are an acoustic drum originating from South America ( I think). I usually give them to family and interested friends, my next stage is to start selling them, but i get a lot of pleasure from giving them to people that like them and want to learn how to play. I live in Beverley, East Yorkshire…. if you live close enough and can let me hear your enthusiasm via an email i will give 1 away free… collection is going to be the only way. And i will throw in a DVD that explains ” how to play” Email me at markbrianwilshire@hotmail.com. :)

A professional fundraiser and strategist for non profit organizations (17 years of experience). I am offering you a free 60 minute consultation (and potentially more for free) via phone for the following: board/staff development, campaign services, and/or strategic planning. Practical advice and solutions. Genuine offer for free advice. I am not selling any services or products. I may also select a project for 100% support- all free. Why? Because I believe that helping deserving organizations is worthy.

  244. @ Amber:

I suffer from the plight of the privileged. Although I have no “real” survival-related needs (and I am most grateful to the Creator for that), I DO feel the real need to make a U-turn in my life, like Chris mentioned in one of his recent blogs. I feel stuck in my efforts to serve others and make a positive contribution because I am not sure how to go about it, and what my special gift is to share.

I am hoping that attending the WDS with like-minded folks might help to point me in the right direction.

If still available, I would be interested in the free ticket to attend the WDS 2013.

    Positive vibes only,
    abc (utopia.ange@gmail.com)

Since you were looking to give your ticket away for free i am not going to try to convince you with offering something in return. I’d love to go and live close to Portland. qixx@hotmail.com

Also, for anyone in the West Lafayette, IN area (Go Purdue!), I can offer a couple hours of free babysitting. I have 7+ years of experience :)

    Thanks!

  249. FOLLOW-UP: This is wonderful, and I tried it when first mentioned. I mailed a painting to someone who admired it, complimentary because the painting needed a loving home. HOWEVER, she sent me a check in the mail even tho i made it clear it was a gift, i.e. FREE. Soooo, now I get to think of another way to do this….

I am an Interior Design professional with @ 12 years of education and experience in the field. I specialize in Green / Sustainable Design. I also suffer from chemical sensitivity, severe allergies and as teenager I was diagnosed with acute, chronic asthma. Today I am virtually symptom free. Through my extensive research, I have learned what contaminates to look for and eliminate from my lifestyle and home environment to relieve my symptoms. There are people out there who may not even know that they are being exposed to pollutants in their own home that might be causing them discomfort and/or making them sick. I gladly offer a free consultation at least one individual, (more if there is genuine interest), to help them assess the toxic load of their home environment so that they can start to eliminate elements that might be causing them illness or discomfort. Please be advised that I am not a doctor, and cannot diagnose any medical conditions, I can only offer solutions to creating a safer environment that is more conducive to healing. Please email me taramathea@yahoo.com if interested, and I will forward a questionnaire to start the process. Namaste!

  251. This is my resonse for Amber, to let her know that I would dearly love the WDS ticket. I can offer no good reason why you should select my name over anyone else, except that I would receive this gift with a grateful heart. Thank you, Amber, for your generosity.

  252. Oh I finally thought of something I can offer! If you are in upstate New York, near Rochester I can offer to host a group to do a healthy store tour. I volunteer doing this every week. The program focuses on getting the most food for your buck, so we discuss healthy alternatives, unit price, etc. Great for anyone on SNAP, WIC, broke college students, etc! Yay I’m glad I finally thought of something I can help with.

  253. Hey AONC community!

Still got some of my give aways available (see a few posts up)

This was so much fun I thought of some more things to give away!

    1. A home cooked meal… that is if you are in the Memphis, TN area or you are passing through…

    2. a place to stay… again, the Memphis thing applies…

if you are daring to be entertained by strangers… My wife and I love opening our home to new friends!

I love this idea and would be more than happy to give away the following:

    a) 3 FREE 1 hr coaching sessions (phone/Skype or in person in NYC). I usually charge $125 per session.

Coaching note: I’ve lost 80 pounds using the methods that I talk about/teach, and I’m confident I can get you going on your fitness goals too!

Contact me via my website form, or at sayan@invigoratenow.com

For those of you who’ll be at WDS 2013, looking forward to meeting you:)

  255. My name is Mark, and it’s amazing how difficult it can be to come up with something to offer when I don’t have a website per se, and have no products or services I typically offer. So here it goes!

For the students out there, I’d be happy to edit/critique a paper (any length!) and for the religiously inclined, I can send you some mp3′s of my music. If you’re interested, email mrwilliams64 @ gmail.com. Look forward to hearing from you!

And Amber, I would truly be honored if you chose me to receive your WDS ticket. The fact that you are giving your ticket away to someone truly says so much about your character. Regardless of who you choose, thank you for your example!

  256. Great idea. I’ve been feeling the need to give back for a while now and here is an impetus, delivered right to my inbox! Anyone interested in a press release, white paper, article or case study? I’m offering a free piece for three people!

    Shannon (aspenay@hotmail.com)

And thanks, Chris, for reminding us that there are a lot of generous people in this world.

  257. A good friend of mine here in Wisconsin manufactures a back massage tool called PTFit. I sell them on Amazon.

It is a fairly new product and we are always happy to get them in the hands of folks to try them out.

You may contact me on Twitter. :)

I can offer a free 75 minute session to three people. Email me a few sentences on why you want to come in, and what you need help with, if interested. Please include ‘AONC’ in the subject of your email.

  259. Hi, Great idea.
I am inspired to offer a totally free Chiropractic office visit. If you have been to a Chiropractor before and are interested in getting worked on again, or if you have never tried Chiropractic before and are interested in how it can help you, let me know. This offer is good for the first three to respond. One free visit per person, until all three are taken. My office is in NYC (Flatiron/Union Square/Mid-town area).

  260. In the midst of tax season, this offer might help:

I’ve been a tax practitioner and got my start with H & R Block and moved on to start my own practice. Though I don’t do it professionally anymore, I help out at the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) one night a week.

Disclaimer: I’m not a lawyer, financial advisor, etc. nor do I play one on TV.

Here is what I propose: If you have a question while you are filling out your return, zap me an email at doconnorwi at gmail and I will research it and reply with an answer. As necessary, we might even connect with skype or phone for 15 – 30 minutes. No strings attached, I’m not interested in building up a practice again – I’m just looking to keep current.

I will do offer this through April 15 as my schedule allows. (So if 2500 people hop on this with a bunch of questions, I won’t be able to get to everybody – but I do want to help as many as possible! :D )

  261. @Tess I would be very interested in the Holosync programs if you still have them. You can reach me at doconnorwi at gmail and we can work out the details Thanks for the generous offer!

I’d love the free ticket to World Domination that Amber so generously offered. I’m a freelance event planner and every time the World Domination tickets go on sale I always seem to be hitting a slow cash flow point. It just never works out.

I’d LOVE the opportunity to go and would be happy to somehow “pay it forward” before or after I’ve attended.

  263. I’m a User Experience design expert. If you’d like to build a mobile app of website, I’ll help you build the UX wireframe mockups so you can present it to investors or programmers. benny.slavin@gmail.com.

  264. Chris, love this idea. I like to keep things simple. I’m based in Washington DC; live and work in the in-town neighborhood of Georgetown. If anyone is passing through, my FREE offer is to take you out for coffee and a cupcake in Georgetown and give you 30 minutes of listening and coaching from me about your BOOK IDEA. Write on!

  265. I am a writer/researcher. I am willing to give away ten hours of research to anyone needing help on a project – documentary, business, etc. My background has largely been in biopharma, but I love to learn new things, so whatever your project, bring it on! All contact information and background is on my website. Looking forward to helping out!

  266. If anyone wants to learn crochet in Edinburgh scotland on Sat 23rd I’ll be in Lovecrumbs at 1pm and I can teach you how to crochet a Grannie Square. Learning to crochet a grannie square is like reaching crochet nirvana. If you are not able to make sat drop into Grannie Greens 6-8pm next monday in the Red Squirrel on Lothian Road. I’ll be there and a crochet tutorial can be arranged.

  267. I have beaded jewelry I made early on when I first started out that never sold.

I also have some other accessories (purses, etc.) and some clothes (business wear) that are brand new or worn once or twice.

I have lost a considerable amount of weight due to a diagnosis last May of stage IV carcinoid cancer, so it’s time to minimize, and get these things to people who can use them.

I would like to donate to an organization(s) which specifically helps women who have changed/are changing their lives and are reentering the workforce.

Please call with your contact information. Message phone (424) 243-6810

    Thanks!

  268. I have more than filled all 4 spots for coaching, thanks every who emailed! And thanks Chris for creating this awesome mass of generosity!

Helping People For Free as the latest subject line pulled me right in.

After scanning through the hundreds of comments from generous people offering their services, I spotted Rodney Washington.

Our company has a great culture and a really good business model (or so I thought), but there was something missing. We needed help from somebody who knew what they were doing.

Rodney offered a regularly paid 30-min strategy call (which ended up being an hour) for free, and he did just that. He helped me to realize the strengths of our company and to forget the weaknesses. Pursue the heart and the story behind our company and everything else will fall into place.

Not only is it obvious that Rodney knows his stuff and was kind enough to offer his services for free, he truly cared. When you are good at what you do on top of having a genuine interest for your customer’s success people reciprocate by spreading the love.

Go to Rodney’s site here and take him up on his incredible offer.

  270. Hey Amber…Keep your ticket & go to WDS! I’m offering to be the bridesmaid in your sisters’ wedding for you!

If you don’t want to take me up on my offer, please throw my name in the hat for your ticket.

You’re going to make someone very happy….I hope for you, the gesture is returned next year & you get to go to WDS.

    You’re a good sister,

    Vicki

  271. I am a fine artist inspired by travel and world architecture. I paint watercolors based on travel photos, and my specialty is in painting historic sites/architecture. Have a look at my website to get a feel for my work, and if you have a travel photo that you would like made into a watercolor, contact me using the form on my website and we’ll get started. The size of the watercolor will be 8×10 and there is one commission being offered to a participant based in the US (due to shipping logistics). I do this to celebrate the joy in travel and for sharing my passion!

  272. Thanks to all who participated in Chris’ experiment & downloaded a Traditional Rose package…all 25 have been taken!

  273. I hope it’s not too late to offer someone help for free. I just read the post few minutes ago.

I am a freelance web designer. Anyone’s interested in having a website or blog made in WordPress, feel free to tweet me at @ajmalafif

  274. I help young potentials gain clarity on what they want to do with their lives through coaching. I do this because I believe that living a life we love is a rebellious act that allows us to finally create a world that makes sense and benefits everyone.

If you’re a passionate twenty-something who knows that living a life you love must be possible, but need some further help making that a reality, shoot me an email to iris[at]brightlittlesocks[dot]com and tell me why you wanna work together.

If we’re a good fit I’ll happily do a free 45min coaching session with you.
