Greetings, fellow introverts. (Is that not you? Then you can safely skip this post. Everyone else, keep reading.) At every meetup I host, and most of the events I’m invited to speak at, I always mention that I’m a natural introvert. I know that there are likely many other shy, quiet, or introverted people in…Read More
Have you ever wanted to set a world record? Go down in history with a gold star next to your name? Do something crazy and fun that you'll remember forever... or at least until your next world record?
This summer, you have a chance to do exactly that.
We have 3,000 people coming to town in July for the third-annual World Domination Summit. It's our biggest group ever, and WDS is all about doing big things.
Last year we learned of an attempt to set a world record of the longest floating human chain. This record is currently held by a group of Italians, who achieved the record with more than 500 people in 2008.
Last year's attempt to break the record was valiant (see the photos!), but alas—it fell short of the required numbers. That's where we come in.Read More
Dear friends and readers,
Last week I made it to Norway, my final country after more than a decade of going everywhere.
Such an occasion deserved to be shared, so that's just what we did. First, a group of 16 friends, family members, and readers joined Jolie and me for a two-day tour from Oslo to Bergen.Read More
Our little gathering in Portland has grown far beyond our initial expectations (and indeed, even our hopes and dreams). The deadline to be part of this summer's version is ... next Wednesday, January 16.Read More

Australia is one of my favorite countries out of 188 visited so far, and I was thrilled to have an extended stay of five days there last week. I first went to Melbourne to speak at Darren Rowse's Problogger Event, a gathering for bloggers and other fun people from Australia. The event was well produced by Darren and team, with lots of interesting people working on all kinds of projects.Read More
*World Domination, July 2013 Edition* As mentioned on Monday, today's the day—we've just opened up the first public round of registration for #WDS2013. While they last, tickets will be available at the link --> #WDS2013 RegistrationRead More
We've begun secret meetings at World Domination HQ (also known as my house). Field trips have been made to various potential locations (the best field trips always end with Happy Hour). Quote requests have gone out for skywriters and a mechanical bull (long story). We're still in early days, but the time has come: our team has slowly been gathering to plan a small event for next summer.Read More
Happy Labor/Labour Day! If you're in the U.S. or Canada, I hope you're enjoying the holiday. Everyone else, enjoy the lull in traffic while many people in North America are offline doing other things. As for me, I'm heading back out on the road, flying down to San Diego today and then around the U.S. for a few more tour stops over the next two weeks ...Read More
Have you ever withdrawn $100,000 in cash from the bank? Me neither ... until last week. This post includes a video from last weekend's World Domination Summit, and a brief explanation on why our team invested $100 in each WDS attendee.
A number of people have asked me to share more about the surprise we unveiled at the end of WDS 2012. As mentioned on Thursday, you can read the experiences of many other people who were at WDS all over the internet. (This list will be updated soon, since there are now more than 150 posts.)Read More
I've been having a hard time writing up my experience at the second-annual World Domination Summit last weekend. I feel exhausted, but mostly in a good way. Our team did a fantastic job, with more than 80 volunteers working together to put on an epic weekend adventure, complete with block parties, dunk tanks, keynote sessions, dozens of workshops and presentations, and ... so much more. I'll be going away for a few days to reflect more on the experience, but I don't want to keep you waiting on a recap—so I'll send you to a few of the 100+ reviews and writeups that have been published by others in the past few days.Read More
For the past five days, I've been immersed in a weekend adventure with 1,000 of our closest friends from more than 20 countries. They'll be able to tell the story better than I can, so at some point soon I'll do a roundup of their posts. (Attendees: link your posts to this one or tag them with #WDS.) For now, here are a few photos that might give the rest of you an idea of what our weekend was like ...Read More
There are 1,000 gift bags taking up every available space in my garage—and also in the foyer, on the stairs, and in various other nooks and crannies around the house. The photo above is approximately 5% of them, and doesn't include countless other boxes, hammock stands, furniture, piles of wood (long story), and various items that will all become needed at the same time next weekend.
“If we do this again next year,” Jolie asked me recently, “Can we get a storage unit?”Read More
