More details below.
The best part of The $100 Startup was telling the stories of all kinds of people who started successful businesses without spending a lot of money.
Happily, the book has been a big success, with more than 100,000 copies sold in the first few months and at least 15 foreign translations in progress.
I’m now beginning the research process for my next book, which we expect to reach even more people. This book is about quests—a project of measurable challenge that you work toward over a long period of time.
Have you undertaken a quest? Do you know someone who has? This book will feature dozens of stories (hopefully from a larger subset of hundreds of submissions) from people who have achieved remarkable things through a sustained, long-term effort. If you can help us to find these people, I’d be grateful.
Important: Not every quest involves travel or “adventure.” It does involve a long-term focus on a significant goal, something you work toward over time, and usually with a clear end. But in the beginning, we’d like to hear as many ideas as possible, and we can then narrow them down during the writing process.
Quests can come from a variety of categories, including:
- Academic or Knowledge-Based
- Sports or Fitness
- Documentation, Archival or Preservation
There are most likely some other categories that we’re missing. The point is, for the purposes of initial data collection, we’re thinking broadly.
As always, I want to feature people from different countries and backgrounds, so I’m searching far and wide. I want diverse, fascinating stories, and I’ll be undertaking a comprehensive effort to tell those stories well.
Can you help? Send people here or fill out the form yourself –>
Since the publication date isn’t until 2014, I won’t have much to say about this book for a while. I’ll be working on it for much of 2013, while wrapping up my own quest to visit every country in the world. (Only 5 countries to go!)
Thanks for your help. Wherever you are in the world, I hope you’re doing well.
