Home Again, Good Marketing, Waffle Window

waffle-window

It’s time for the Sunday Store Update. I use this time every Sunday afternoon to tell you more about the small business I’m building to support the rest of the site.

I have a no-hype marketing policy, and I ask that you don’t buy anything from me unless you have a clear need for the product. All regular content is ad-free and freely available.

Hey guys,

I’m home again after heading down to the Cook Islands on the Air New Zealand trip. I’m still getting over the fact that last week I was here in Oregon, then I was in the South Pacific for a few days, and now it’s Sunday again and I’m back in Oregon. What’s funny about it is that it feels totally normal.

Yes. I like that kind of thing. Photos and story coming tomorrow.

Anyway, I came back and have been writing, connecting with fun people, drinking coffee – pretty much what I do anywhere.

A couple quick things this week:

1) About hating marketers –

Thanks for all your feedback on Thursday’s post. I don’t do many follow-up pieces, so I’ll just reiterate that I don’t think all marketing is bad. I mean, all people are marketers, yes?

Naturally, I’m certainly a marketer, I use opt-in email, but I think it’s all about attitude, right? Meaning that you guys don’t suck if you don’t ever pay me for anything. It’s all good.

My feeling in these cases is that if the shoe fits, wear it. If not, no worries.

2) Art and Money launch on Thursday –

My first new product in a long time, the Unconventional Guide to Art and Money, will arrive on Thursday morning. Any starving artists out there will be happy to know that I decided to keep it at a budget price despite the fact that a ton of work went into this. More details on Wednesday with the preview, then the Thursday launch for those who are interested.

Sound good?

Oh, I’m doing something new – putting all my products on their own domains, and superstar designer Reese is making an awesome layout page for them. I think you’ll like how it’s done. Of course, the Art and Money guide will launch in this format, complete with video.

I hope all is well with you. To everyone in the U.S., happy Memorial Day weekend.

Keep rocking the universe,

Chris

P.S. About the photo – if you ever find yourself in Portland, Oregon, I highly recommend you check out the Waffle Window on Hawthorne and 36th. When I’m in town, I go there almost every Sunday after my weekly long run.
