Scholarships for Real Life: Now Accepting Applications!

The WDS Foundation seeks to put the right resources in the hands of amazing people who are acting on the three core values of WDS—community, adventure, and service. We do this by providing what we call “Scholarships For Real Life.”
The goal of these scholarships is to empower individuals to pursue their dreams and positively impact a community.
We’ve now funded 6 projects, including:
- Susan Sullivan and her First Clue project
- Jeff Rasmussen and his ADHD Kids Rock community
- Emily Wray and her Voices of Petersburg project
We hope to fund many more for years to come—and we’ll be selecting the next batch of grantees soon!
How It Works
First, be sure to read the instructions. Reading the instructions goes a long way in determining which applications make it past the initial screening. 🙂
Second, be sure to allow plenty of time to complete the application. The committee always receives the majority of the applications on the day of the deadline, which is fine—but they don’t take late applications. To properly answer all the questions, it will take most people at least a couple of hours.
Lastly, to apply for an award, you have to have attended WDS (any year). If you’re coming for the first time this year, you’ll be eligible to apply for the 2017 round. And if you haven’t come and haven’t planned to … you should join us!
Main-stage tickets are sold out, but for the first time this year, there will be an option to participate in other WDS activities through a special “Connect” ticket. We’ll have info on how this works a bit closer to the summer. For now, keep August 10-15 free on your calendar.
